The Brand Identity Design Process

My brand identity design process is a series of steps that will take us from a blank slate to branding that’s a perfect fit.

  • 50% payment is due after the work is completed.

Brand Discovery

Interview

At the outset of each Brand Design project, we initiate an in-depth discussion with you (and relevant stakeholders) to explore your company’s history, objectives, target audience, and competitors. We will explore the audience your brand needs to attract and identify what sets you apart.

Brand personality worksheet

In addition, we will also concentrate on capturing the personality of your company. This is done through engaging and enjoyable exercises. My aim is to prevent monotony and accentuate your distinctive qualities. Examples of exercises may include:

  • We can identify a brand archetype. This is a symbolic character that aligns with the values and characteristics of your organization.
  • In addition to your product or service, I will also highlight the intangible elements that make your brand unique and special.
  • I will provide you with an extensive list of adjectives that describe different qualities. This allows you to choose the specific characteristics that align with how you want your brand to be perceived.
Written brief

Afterward, I will consolidate all the gathered insights into a concise brief that will serve as the guiding framework for your identity design project. This brief will encapsulate the key concepts that need to be conveyed through visual and messaging elements.

Design

Preparation

I’ll review your current branding and your competitors’ branding. This will help me see what’s out there and how we can make your brand stand out. Using the Brand Finder, I’ll make some boards with different images, words, typography, and designs to see what works best for your brand.

Concepts

Upon approval, I will deliver the final files to you. Including all source files. Additionally, most projects will include a brand style guide that documents all the approved elements of your brand identity design. This includes the brand strategy, logo, typography, color palette, photography style, icons, etc. Moreover, this guide will serve as a valuable reference to ensure consistency in your brand materials going forward. This will allow you and your vendors to easily maintain your brand identity without having to reinvent the wheel every time.

If your project includes printed deliverables. I can also obtain quotes from printers and oversee the printing process for you as needed. In this way, you can focus on other aspects of your project and have the peace of mind that your printed materials will be handled professionally.

Now we choose the best direction for your Brand Design. Firstly, I’ll create a visual theme that includes messaging, logo, colors, fonts, shapes, and images. Then, I’ll put them together in sample layouts to give you a complete brand experience. We’ll look at how all the components work together to make sure they match the desired brand vibe. Instead of treating design elements separately, we’ll consider them as a whole to find the most effective solution for the logo that matches the overall look and feel.

Once the designs are complete, I’ll show you the design concepts during a screensharing meeting and explain the research and reasoning behind all the decisions. This part is exciting! By doing so, you will have a clear understanding of the thought process behind each design and how it aligns with your brand vision.

Refinement

The proposed solutions are typically on target. However, if necessary, we can make minor adjustments to refine and further enhance the design, ensuring that the final product is truly awesome.

Launch

Timeframe

For a typical brand identity project, it is recommended to allocate 3-4 weeks. If the project includes marketing materials, an additional 2-4 weeks may be required. Please note that these timelines assume prompt client feedback of 1-2 days.
